Trigger Task

The various options that can trigger a workflow to begin

The Trigger task allows you to set conditions which, when true, automatically add the person to this workflow. If there is no trigger, then a person will need to be manually added, set to be added via form automation, or connected from another workflow into the current one.

You can use the Trigger task while adding a new workflow or editing an existing one. In the workflow editor, just drag the Trigger task into the canvas area, and you will find the Properties for the Trigger open in the side modal.

Options for Trigger tasks

Name - the optional name of the trigger
Description - the optional brief description of the trigger

Trigger Type - choose from the options below:

  • Scheduled Query - Anyone who appears in the results of the chosen query will be added to the workflow. The query will run on the schedule set.

  • Profile - Whenever a person’s profile is added or updated, the query chosen in the next field is executed. If they appear in the results, they are added to the workflow.

In either case, the query can be chosen from the dropdown list of saved queries or you can use the 3-dots menu to add a new one by choosing + New Query. This menu also includes the options to Edit the query or Refresh the query on screen.
