How do I delete a person?

Describes how to permanently delete a person's profile from One Church Software.

You will need Full Write People and Profile Deactivate permissions to perform this action.

Deleting a person's profile permanently removes the person and their data from One Church Software. This action CANNOT be undone, so only delete profiles for individuals who truly have no involvement with your church and whose data can be completely removed. If you simply want to make a profile read-only and keep their record on file, use Archive instead.

Find the Person

Use the top search bar in the upper-right of the screen to search by name.

– OR –

Go to Contacts in the left-hand menu, then click Filter and enter the person's name.

Delete the Person

Click the person's name in the results to open their profile. In the upper-right corner of the profile, click the Actions button and select Delete from the dropdown.

A confirmation dialog will appear. If the person is part of a family, you'll have the option to Delete family?, which removes every member of their primary family along with this profile. Review the dialog carefully before confirming, then complete the deletion.

Helpful Tips

  • You cannot delete your own profile.

  • There must always be at least one super user in the system, so the last super user cannot be deleted.

  • When deleting a super user, their saved search queries, email templates, and resource requests are reassigned to the super user who performs the deletion.
