How can I change the confirmation emails that get sent out when someone gives?

Describes how to update the design of the confirmation giving emails.

You will need the Contributions Settings permission to perform this action.

Click on "Contributions > Settings" from the left hand menu and select the "Merchants" tab. Under Account Listing, select the merchant you want to edit the settings for. All the confirmation email templates are under the "Notifications" tab in the pop up that appears..

Each template has it's own list of mail merge variables you can choose which will be replaced with the appropriate data based on the contribution and person. See below for explanations of each one.

Donation Confirmation Message

This will appear on the confirmation screen after a person has donated.

  • Donor First Name - the first name of the person who gave.

  • Donor Last Name - the last name of the person who gave.

  • Donor Phone - the primary phone number of the person who gave.

  • Donor Email - the primary email address for the person who gave.

  • Organization Name - your church name.

  • Organization Email - your church's email address.

  • Organization Phone - your church's phone.

Donation Receipt Email Template

This is the email template that will be emailed to the person after they have donated.

  • Donor First Name - the first name of the person who gave.

  • Donor Last Name - the last name of the person who gave.

  • Donor Phone - the primary phone number of the person who gave.

  • Donor Email - the primary email address for the person who gave.

  • Organization Name - your church name.

  • Organization Email - your church's email address.

  • Organization Phone - your church's phone.

  • Confirmation Number - the confirmation number provided by the payment gateway.

  • Total Amount - the total amount given by the donor.

  • Giving Summary - a table containing all the funds and amounts that were contributed to.

Recurring Gift Confirmation Message

This will appear on the confirmation screen after a person has set up a recurring gift.

  • Donor First Name - the first name of the person who gave.

  • Donor Last Name - the last name of the person who gave.

  • Donor Phone - the primary phone number of the person who gave.

  • Donor Email - the primary email address for the person who gave.

  • Organization Name - your church name.

  • Organization Email - your church's email address.

Recurring Gift Confirmation Email Template

This is the email template that will be emailed to the person after they have set up a recurring gift.

  • Donor Last Name - the last name of the person who the schedule is for.

  • Donor Phone - the primary phone number of the person who the schedule is for.

  • Donor Email - the primary email address for the person who the schedule is for.

  • Organization Name - your church name.

  • Organization Email - your church's email address.

  • Organization Phone - your church's phone.

  • Total Amount - the total amount to be given by the donor.

  • Giving Summary - a table containing all the funds and amounts that will be contributed to.
