How do I set public visibility settings?

Describes if sermons, events, groups, forms, or the giving portal appear in the public portal, mobile app, and for logged-in guest users

Updated over 6 months ago

You have control over whether sermons, events, groups, forms, or the giving portal appear in the public portal and mobile app, and for logged-in guest users.

To alter visibility, you will need the following permission:

Sermons: Sermons Settings
Forms: Form Settings
Events: Full Read Events
Giving: Contributions Settings
Groups: Group Settings

A setting named "Public Visibility" is in the Settings tab of the following left-hand menu items: Sermons, Events > Calendars, Forms, and Groups. In addition, this setting is part of Contributions > Settings > Options for an additional level of control over where the giving portal appears.

Note: Web embeds are not affected by these settings.

Public Portal

If unchecked, the module will not appear in the top menu of the public portal nor on the home page. If this setting is unchecked for all five modules, then the public portal will no longer be accessible. If accessed directly, the user would be redirected to the login page for the church. The link to the public portal on the login page will also be removed.

Mobile App

If unchecked, the module will not appear in the My One Church app as well as any branded apps. This applies to all areas where the module could be accessed such as the side menu, screen buttons, tabs, carousel images, etc. Note that changes may not take effect for a user until the app is restarted.

Logged-In Guest Users

If unchecked, guest users who log into the main system (i.e. https://<subdomain>.onechurchsoftware.com) will not see the module. This will remove it from the side menu and the guest user will not be able to access the main listing screen for the module or any records within. If unchecked within Contributions > Settings > Options, the "Give Now" button will not appear at the top of the side menu nor will the user be able to access the giving page within the system directly.

Note: This only applies to guest users. Any other kind of user (i.e. non-guest users such as those with custom access, role-based access, or super users) will see modules as allowed by their permissions. The Public Visibility options will not affect them.

Also, note that changes here will not take effect for a guest user until they refresh their browser page or until the next time they need to log into the system.
