You will need the Full Write Connections permission to perform this action.
A connection is a record of a specific interaction or need a person has shared with the church - a prayer request, a need for a ride, or a desire for spiritual guidance. By assigning a connection to a specific staff member or volunteer, responsibility is being delegated for following up on that need.
Adding and assigning a connection
Open the Add Connection modal from three places:
From Connections in the left-hand navigation - click + Add New in the top right.
From any page - click + Add New in the top toolbar and choose Connection.
From a person's profile - open the Involvement tab, select the Connections sub-tab, and click + Add New.
Open the Add Connection modal from any of the entry points above.
On the General tab, fill in the connection details. Required fields are marked with a red asterisk:
Type (required) - the kind of connection (Care, Hospital Visit, Prayer Request, etc.). To create new types, see How do I add a connection type?
Date (required) - the date the connection was created. Defaults to today.
Person (required) - the person the connection is about. Start typing to search.
Status (required) - the current state of the connection. Defaults to Pending.
Description (optional) - additional context for whoever follows up.
Custom Fields (optional) - any custom fields configured for this connection type.
Switch to the Assignment tab to delegate follow-up:
Person (optional) - the staff member or volunteer who will own the follow-up.
Date (optional) - the due date by which the connection should be completed. Past-due connections display a red Past Due badge in the Connections list.
Add any Comments the assignee should see when they pick up the connection.
Click Save.
Tip: To add several connections at once, check Keep open to add another before clicking Save. The modal stays open after each save to keep adding without re-clicking + Add New.
Additional tips
Use Connection Types - create different types (Prayer Request, Hospital Visit, Follow-Up) to categorize and prioritize needs. Each type can have its own statuses and custom fields.
Coordinate with a team - the Assignee and Due On columns on the Connections list make it easy to see who's responsible for what and what's overdue.
