How can I copy a workflow task?

Describes how to duplicate a workflow task.

You will need to be a Workflow Manager on the workflow itself or have the Full Write Workflows permission to perform this action.

A variety of workflows can be designed that cater to different needs and requirements of the church. These workflows can range from simple to complex, depending on the task at hand. In some cases, it may be more efficient to duplicate an existing workflow task rather than create a new one from scratch, such as when multiple people will receive assignments with the same instructions within the same workflow or you have multiple workflows with the same task used in each one.

This is particularly useful when the duplicated task has similar requirements to the new task, as it saves valuable time that can be used for other ministry activities. By duplicating a workflow task, users can easily modify and customize it to suit their specific needs, without having to start from the beginning.

Copying A Task

Click on Automation from the left-hand navigation menu and select Workflows. From there, select the desired workflow with the task you'd like to copy.

From the Editor tab, click the 3-dots menu for the task you want to copy and select + Copy Task.

A pop up will display the name of the task, an optional description of the copied task, and the workflow it should be added to. The system will choose (This Workflow) by default, but you can move the copied task to a different workflow by clicking the Workflow dropdown. (This feature requires a Workflow Manager to be copying to a workflow they are a manager of or will require Full Write Workflow permissions.) You can also choose to navigate to the workflow once you click Copy to save your progress.

If you copy the task to your current workflow or if you navigate to the new workflow where you need the copied task, you will see the new task in blue. Connect it to the nodes of the correct task preceding or following it and edit any of the details in the Properties modal on the right side.

Once you are satisfied with placement and Properties, click on the Save Now button that appears at the top of the screen.
