One Church is a single app on the Apple App Store and Google Play that every church using One Church Software shares. There is not a separate app for each church. A member installs One Church, chooses your church once, and from that point the app shows your church's logo, colors, menu and screens.
This article walks a member through installing the app, finding your church, and switching churches later. None of these steps need an account. A member can browse your church's public content without signing in, and sign in afterwards to unlock personal features such as groups, serving and giving history.
Getting started in the app
Install the app
Open the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store on the phone or tablet.
Search for One Church and install the app.
Open the app. A One Church loading screen appears while the app looks for a previously selected church. If no church has been selected yet, the app opens the setup screens described below.
Find your church
On first open, the app walks the member through three screens: Welcome, Find your church, and a results list.
On the Welcome screen, tap Get Started.
On Find your church, choose one of the two ways to search:
Use my current location - the app asks for the device's location permission, then searches around the phone.
ZIP or postal code - type the code into the field and tap Continue.
On the Churches near you screen, find your church in the list. Results are ordered nearest first, and each row shows the church's logo, name, address and distance.
Tap your church. An Opening… message appears on that row while the app loads your church's design, and then the member lands on your home screen.
Church search matches on location, not on the church's name. A member who types a church name into the field will not find the church that way.
Open your church with a link
Your church can also share a link that opens the app straight onto your church, with no searching. The link looks like onechurch://join/ followed by a short code. Tapping it selects your church and continues, and it works even on a phone that has never opened the app before.
If the code in the link is unknown or has expired, the member sees We couldn't open that church link. with a link back to Find your church, where they can search instead.
Switching churches and troubleshooting
Change to a different church
A member who selected the wrong church, or who has moved to a new one, can change it at any time.
Tap the 3-bars menu in the top left of the app to open the side menu. On a landscape tablet this menu is already docked down the left side.
Tap Settings in the menu footer.
Tap Church. The row shows the church that is currently selected.
Confirm at the Change Church? prompt. The app returns the member to Find your church so they can select a new one.
Tip: When a member reports that a sign-in screen names the wrong church, check Settings > Church before troubleshooting their password. The sign-in screen reads Logging into followed by the selected church's name, so a wrong name there points at the church selection, not the account.
If members cannot find your church in search
Neither of the two causes below produces an error message in the app, so a member reporting "we are not in the app" needs both to be checked rather than guessed at. Check them in this order.
Confirm the app is turned enabled. In the browser, go to Mobile App in the left navigation menu and open the General tab, and check that the Enabled? toggle in the Setup panel is on. When it is on, an Enabled badge appears next to the Mobile App page title. This is the most common cause.
Confirm the account address can be located. Search matches on the address on your account, so it needs to be complete and to resolve to a real place.
