A sermon in the One Church app can carry two kinds of notes, and it helps to keep them apart when you are answering a question about them:
Church notes - an outline or set of prompts your church prepared and attached to the sermon. Members read these. They cannot change them.
My Notes - the member's own writing area, which sits below the church notes. Only that member sees it.
Members can also email their notes to themselves, and download any files your church attached to the sermon. The sermon audio keeps playing the whole time they are writing.
Taking notes on a sermon
Open the notes on a sermon
Tap the 3-bars menu in the top left of the app to open the side menu, then tap Sermons. Your church may also have placed a button or a menu row that goes straight there.
Find the sermon. The list opens on All, with Series alongside it, and there is a search box plus filters for speaker, tag and Bible book.
Tap the sermon to open its detail screen.
Tap Sermon Notes. This appears only on sermons where your church attached notes or opened notes for that sermon.
Write your own notes
The notes screen shows your church's notes at the top and the member's My Notes area below them.
Tap into the My Notes area and start typing. The app keeps a draft on the device as the member writes, so nothing is lost by leaving the screen mid-sentence.
Tap Save to store the notes on the member's profile.
Tip: Save is not on the screen all the time. It appears next to Email my notes as soon as there are unsaved changes. A member looking at an empty note will not see a Save button, and that is correct behavior.
Email your notes to yourself
Email my notes is available at all times on the notes screen, whether or not there is anything unsaved. Tapping it sends the member's notes to their own email address, which is the usual way a member keeps them somewhere outside the app.
While the sermon is playing
Keep listening while you write
Sermon audio and video play through one player that follows the member around the app, so opening the notes screen does not stop playback. While a member writes, the sermon keeps going in a compact bar that stays at the edge of the screen, and they can swipe it up into the full player when they want the controls.
Audio continues when the phone is locked or the member switches apps, with the usual lock-screen controls, and the app remembers where they stopped.
Tip: If a member says the video disappeared while they were taking notes, it was minimized rather than closed. The sermon page shows Playing in mini player with a prompt to tap to expand, and the video keeps playing in a small floating window. Tapping either one brings it back.
Download sermon resources
Below the summary, a sermon can carry a Resources section holding files your church attached, such as a printable outline or a study guide. Tapping one downloads it and hands it to the device's own handler, so it opens in whatever app the member normally uses for that file type. Images preview inside the app, and PDFs preview in the app on iOS.
If a member sees no Resources section, your church has not attached any files to that sermon.
