How do I add form submissions to a group?

Describes how to bulk-add people from a form's submissions to a group, including creating profiles for unmatched submissions.

You will need the Limited Write Forms and Full Write Groups permissions to add form submissions to a group.

After people fill out a form, you can add them to a group in just a few clicks, right from the form's list of entries. This is handy for things like sign-up forms for a new small group, volunteer interest forms, or class registrations. You can even create new profiles for anyone who isn't in your database yet.

Tip: Want people added to a group automatically every time they submit a form? Set up a group automation instead. See How do I add automation to a form?

Select the submissions

  1. Go to Forms and open the form you want to work with.

  2. Click the Entries tab. The Submissions list opens.

  3. (Optional) Use Filter to narrow the list to just the submissions you want, such as everyone who chose a certain option.

  4. Select the checkbox next to each submission you want to add, or check the box at the top of the list to select every submission shown.

Add them to a group

  1. Click Bulk Actions and choose Add to Group.

  2. In the Add to Group window, start typing in the Group field and select the group.

  3. Set the Start Date. This is the date the people become members of the group. It defaults to today.

  4. Decide whether to turn on Create profiles for unmatched submissions? (see below).

  5. Click Add.

What happens to unmatched submissions?

A submission marked Unmatched isn't linked to a person in One Church Software yet. The Create profiles for unmatched submissions? toggle controls what happens to these:

  • Off (default) — Unmatched submissions are skipped. Only people who already have a profile are added to the group.

  • On — A new profile is created for each submission that can't be matched to an existing person, and that new person is added to the group.

Warning: Turning on profile creation can create duplicate profiles if someone already exists in your database but their submission didn't match (for example, they used a different email address). Review your unmatched submissions first and link any that belong to existing people.
