How do I enter budget amounts?

Enter or change the monthly amounts in a budget, one fund at a time, and choose which accounts and funds the budget covers.

You will need the Full Write Accounting permission to perform this action.

After you create a budget, enter the amount you plan for each account in each month. Amounts are entered one fund at a time.

Open the budget

Go to Accounting > Budgets in the left-hand menu and click the budget's fiscal year in the list. The budget screen lists your income and expense accounts down the left, with a Total column and a column for each month.

Click the arrow beside a group to expand or collapse it, or use Expand All and Collapse All above the table. The Details panel on the right shows the fiscal year, tag group, and totals for income, expenses, and net income.

  4. Click Save.

Tip: In the Edit Account Budget window, open Actions and choose Evenly distribute to spread an amount across the months, or Clear all to start over.

If the budget uses a tag group, the window also has a drop-down for that group, such as Department. See How do I budget by tag?.

To see every fund again, clear Filter by Fund.
